Hi Karla! It's been a long time since I last visited your blog. I was hoping to you could help me with this. I'll be writing my term paper for English and I don't know how to start with it. We're given the question "Are you going to introduce and teach Philippine English to your learners in your respective schools? Why/Why not?" I really don't know how I should start my paper. I was hoping you could be share with me some tips. Thank you! :)
By Philippine English, what is it you mean exactly? As in the vernacular, everyday language? If that's the case I believe that language and its whole structure was created for a purpose and that is to be able to use it well and maximize it to its best potential. It's important to learn proper grammar in whatever language first, no matter how 'informal' people may speak in their daily conversations because it's the foundation from which we will build our entire vocabulary. And despite people insisting on "the freedom" of language, or whatnot, I think before you can "break the rules" of it, you have to master them first, so I really think it's a necessity to teach the right way of doing it.
